Ready to make a change? I'd love to help.
I'm Locke, an Emory-certified health coach, ACE-certified personal trainer, and health writer.
I help women (just like me) overcome fatigue, lose weight, and establish healthy habits that last by empowering them to make sustainable, effective lifestyle changes.
In addition to my health coaching, I'm also a health journalist with nearly a decade of experience.
I've worked and written for publications including WebMD, Today, Shape, Women’s Health, SELF, Greatist, Thrive Global, Huffington Post, Well+Good, Refinery29, Muscle&Fitness, and more. I’ve interviewed some of the top health and happiness experts in the world—Dr. Mark Hyman, Gabby Bernstein, Deepak Chopra, and more—and have shared their advice with millions of readers online. I’ve dug through research and studies in order to provide science-based health information in age of too many false facts and too much fear-mongering.
But here's the thing. Despite all that knowledge, I still ended up struggling with a range of health issues. Nothing life-threatening, but frustrating nonetheless. Anxiety, burnout, and other stress-related health issues including hypothyroidism, adrenal fatigue, and digestive problems have all reared their head in recent years.
That's what made me realize that we all need more than mere knowledge if we want to feel truly happy, healthy, and whole.
After all, I knew what I should be eating, and what workouts I probably should be doing, but it was much harder to actually put that knowledge into action.
Maybe you can relate.
Maybe you've put on a few extra pounds that aren’t as easy to lose as magazines suggest. Maybe you feel anxious and stressed to the point where even the chillest yoga class or candlelit massage can’t relieve our nagging thoughts. Maybe you don't have the energy to get through a day without multiple cups of coffee and sugary snacks.
I know how it feels. I was coming home from work and taking an hour-long nap on the couch, instead of going to a workout class like I used to do. I was listless and lethargic every day, turning to caffeine to perk up and wine to wind down. I was gaining weight, even though my diet hadn't drastically changed (though I was probably eating more sugar than I should've of to try to up my energy levels.)
Finally, I hit my breaking point. After reading about others' struggles with adrenal fatigue and other stress-related issues, I sought out a functional medicine doctor. Through working with him, doing my own research, and mindfully reducing stress in my life though lifestyle changes, I’ve totally changed my health for the better.
Now I know feeling that way is not normal. And I know I don't have to feel that way ever again.
I've lost those nagging five pounds I could never shake before. I've boosted my energy levels (no more after-work naps). I no longer suffer from the digestive distress (bloat, gas, all the rest—ugh) I struggled with for years. Not that I'm perfect—I'm definitely still working on discovering exactly what a balanced, healthy life looks like for me (and yes, wine will be included), but I'm so proud of the progress I've made.
That progress, and realizing that it takes more than just knowing what you should do, inspired me to attend Emory's health coach certification program. Through that course, my own research and experience, as well as my personal training certification, I've gained the skills needed to help others along the way.
How can I help you?
As a health coach, I help other young women address overcome those health issues I've personally dealt with—fatigue, weight gain, stress, anxiety, and generally feeling "off."
My mission is to help other young women make big changes through small steps, and eventually rediscover what it means to feel truly healthy, happy, and whole.
My goal is to make better health more approachable and realistic.
I know that there are a TON of mixed messages out there about health. Just one scroll through my Instagram feed gives me about 10 different opinions about what's best to eat for breakfast, and 50 different workouts you should do to lose weight.
But here's a secret: What's right for one person isn't right for everyone. As your coach, I'll be 100% real with you about what it takes for YOU to be healthy. And I'll be honest: It's not always easy.
It'll take some effort, some sacrifice, some research, and some time on your part. You'll have to figure out if your body feels better if you eat vegetarian, gluten-free, or paleo. You'll have to try a few different workouts to figure out if yoga suits your style, or if indoor cycling is your jam. You'll need to ask yourself what's holding you back from starting—or keeping up—those healthy habits you've been swearing to stick to.
The good news? I'll be with you every step of the way.
I'll help you you figure out the answers to those tough questions, and many more.
Even better news? You don’t have to live the picture-perfect lifestyle of a food blogger to feel good in your skin. You don't have to look like a bodybuilder to be in optimal health. You don't have to run marathons to lose weight.
Instead, small steps can make a HUGE difference in your health. And I'll show you how.
Working with me, you’ll learn how to make sustainable, effective changes that work for your body. You'll figure out how to become your best, happiest, most energetic self—without giving up all the things that make life worth living! I don’t prescribe crazy crash diets or hard-core fitness programs. And I definitely don’t believe in giving up wine or dessert.
In short, you'll discover what’s holding you back from making the right choices for your health, restore balance to your body and mind, and unlock your best life.
